Johnny’s Gorge, Havelock: How We Brief It
Johnny’s Gorge is a named Havelock site for certified guests when the sea allows. Not a first tank. How Continental Scuba actually uses it from Beach No. 5.

A named site, not a souvenir stamp
People type Johnny’s Gorge because other Havelock blogs treat it like a checklist. At Continental Scuba it is one of the reefs we already publish for certified guests. The boat still decides. Current, swell, and who is in the water beat a screenshot.
What it is, in our brief
A Havelock site with more blue around it than a lagoon classroom. Expect a proper briefing. Expect days we skip it. Expect no animal guarantee — reef sharks, schools, or a quiet dive can all happen. We log what we see. We do not print a count.
Who goes
- Try Scuba / first tank: no. Stay with the instructor in sheltered water. Try Scuba.
- Open Water students: only if that day’s skill and the sea match. The instructor says so, not the Google snippet.
- Certified fun dives: yes when it is the right call. Bring the card. Fun dives.
What we will not copy from other shops
GPS pins, “guaranteed sharks,” a private timetable, or a competitor’s depth marketing. Those pages are theirs. Our map is Havelock dive sites — Johnny’s Gorge, Dixon’s Pinnacle, Aquarium, Seduction Point.
Dixon’s is a different shape of water: Dixon’s Pinnacle. Island overview: scuba diving in Havelock.
